The tragic search for 19-year-old Marly Kinney has come to a heartbreaking end after her body was discovered on Sunday afternoon near Grayson Lake in Kentucky.
According to officials from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Kinney’s body was recovered roughly five days after she was reported missing. Authorities confirmed that multiple agencies were involved in locating her remains in the Grayson area at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Kinney was last seen on Wednesday during a boating outing on Grayson Lake, which prompted a large-scale search operation involving game wardens, Kentucky State Police, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local fire departments, and numerous rescue teams.
Officials have notified her family, while the Carter County Coroner responded to the scene. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined and will be established by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.
In a related development, authorities previously filed charges against 23-year-old Cameron Conley, the captain of the boat Kinney was last seen on. He was arrested on a boating under the influence charge after reportedly telling authorities he could not locate Kinney while they were on the water. Investigators have clarified that his case remains separate as inquiries into Kinney’s death continue.
